“9/11 Table of Silence Project” is a powerful and evocative free to public contemporary dance performance, ritual for peace, conceived and choreographed by Jacqulyn Buglisi, the founder and artistic director of the Buglisi Dance Theatre, in collaboration with Italian visual artist Rossella Vasta.

Each year, on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Buglisi Dance Theatre stages “Table of Silence” at the Josie Robertson Plaza at Lincoln Center in New York City.

The performance features a large ensemble of dancers who come together in a striking tableau, arranged around a circular table. Dancers move in slow, deliberate movements, creating a mesmerizing visual and emotional experience. The table itself is adorned with a white cloth, symbolizing purity and hope.

“Table of Silence” serves as a powerful reminder of the resilience and strength of the human spirit. It encourages reflection on the events of 9/11 and the universal longing for peace and unity in the face of tragedy. Buglisi Dance Theatre’s annual performance of this piece has become a cherished tradition, not only for New Yorkers but for people from all over the world who come to witness and participate in this moving tribute.
